It's why I tried to do it as well, if only to fix Garrus's blurry face.īut it reaches a point where the time and energy I've spent trying to make my own "remaster" just isn't feasible or practical, and I've exhausted more than my fair share of help forums to get over the hurdles.īut beyond all that.
So, yeah, I'm damn jealous of anyone that can get their PC to run Mass Effect at 4K with the MEUITM mods installed.
That's why having systems like PS4 and Xbox One still exist, because developers know what they're working with, fixed hardware specs, and can optimize for a few systems rather than a nearly infinite combination of hardware that can often work against itself or cause unforeseen issues. In an ideal world, we'd all have the same golden supercomputer built by space magic with the same settings and performance and there'd never be any user complications, but that's not the case. Just because you CAN jump through so many hoops to get an optimal experience doesn't always mean you should or that others can. I've wasted hours trying to get it to work and have made almost no progress, no matter how many clean-installs I give it.Īnd thus I factor that into my demand for a remaster, because "convenience" is also a factor. It's a gaming powerhouse that can run Tomb Raider at 4K, but it chugs and crashes almost non-stop with ME1 (mostly ME1 ME2 and ME3 run smoother). ME1 requires an extensive amount of modification to run at modern-day levels, and perhaps I am simply not tech-savvy enough to figure out what precisely is the root of all my problems (many support threads I checked out said it has incompatibilities with certain AMD graphic cards), but I have practically nothing else major installed on my computer. My computer is only a couple years old, custom-built for gaming, and it can run plenty of modern games smoothly.
A fraction of a fraction of the overall Mass Effect player-base has played a 1080, 60 fps, heavily modded, content-restored, controller-adapted version of these games with all the DLC available to them.Īnd, I'll repeat my experience here (and I'm nowhere NEAR alone) the older Mass Effect games have some serious compatibility problems with certain video cards and content. But isn't that precisely WHY so many people who aren't PC people are asking for remasters and content just like this restored?įor all the PC chest-pounding, only a fraction of the PC players ever actually got around to installing all these mods.
